John Dillinger

John Dillinger was a 1920’s and 30’s gangster famously known for his numerous bank robberies, prison breaks, and his elusive abilities. John Dillinger was born on June 22, 1903 and died on July 22, 1934. John Dillinger since his early years had always been rowdy was often getting into trouble, but his crime spree did not truly start until his very first prison break in 1933. After being paroled from his prison sentence for robbing a grocery store, John Dillinger had become bitter man angry at society. After leaving prison he robbed a bank and was arrested shortly after. After his fellow gangsters escaped with smuggled weapons, they proceeded to break out Dillinger by shooting the sheriff. Afterwards Dillinger and his gang terrorized the nation with a huge crime spree including bank robberies, homicides, vehicle theft, and raiding police weapon caches. For the next 11 years Dillinger was able to evade the FBI until on July 22, 1934 John Dillinger was shot and killed by 2 FBI agents while Dillinger was leaving a movie theater.

John Dillinger’s crimes were an act of intolerance because after his first 8 year prison sentence for robbery of a grocery store, he became angry at the government, and many saw his later crimes as backlash against the government. This anger originated from his trial for auto theft. His partner in crime swore he was innocent, but he was found guilty and sentenced to prison for 2 years. Dillinger did what his father taught him to do and pleaded guilty. Unfortunately he still had to serve a 14 year sentence and this outraged Dillinger. After that it was only downhill and his intolerance for society led to his future crime sprees.
