Margaret Sanger

What she did:

  • It was illegal even for married couples to buy contraceptives, even through the mail.
  • People could be fined $1,000-$5,000 or 5 years in prison or both,
  • In 1930 the National Committee on Federal Legislation for Birth Control approved the lifting of federal restrictions
